Gorgeous model loses ODM Woman rep contest


The gorgeous model who was vying for ODM’s woman representative in Mombasa has been defeated. Sadaf Deen, 20, was floored by nominated MCA Asha Mohamed Hussein.

Asha, who is popularly known as Ashu, garnered 17,000 votes against Ms Deen’s 8,778 votes while Ms Hamis Zaja was third with 3,590 votes.

Ms Deen is a head turned with her eye-candy looks.

At the same time, lawyer Mohamed Faki was declared the ODM Mombasa senatorial flag bearer after beating former Trade executive Hamisi Mwaguya to win the ticket.

Mr Faki garnered 11,135 votes against Mr Mwaguya’s 9,106 votes.

The results of the polls, which were repeated in three constituencies on Saturday, were announced by the returning officer Maurice Odhiambo at Tononoka Social Hall shortly after 3:30pm.

In Jomvu constituency, MP Badi Twalib beat his rival Dan Aloo with 3,283 votes to the latter’s 1,759 votes.

In Changamwe constituency, MP Omar Mwinyi, who was last week arraigned in court over violence in the primaries, floored his rival Juma Goshi with 7123 votes. Mr Goshi got 1483 votes.

Mr Faki and Ms Hussein thanked their supporters for electing them.

They also urged their opponents to join them and campaign for Nasa presidential candidate Raila Odinga and Governor Ali Hassan Joho in the August 8 general elections.
