Gor make squad changes ahead of new season

By DAVID KWALIMWA December 31st, 2014 1 min read

Gor Mahia FC have parted ways with seven players ahead of the start of the 2015 league season.

According to the club CEO Ludvic Aduda, the move is strategic and aimed at improving the all round quality within the team.

“Those we have released are good players, some are even young and we wish them well. The club has decided to move in another direction” Aduda told Nairobi News.

The released players are Innocent Mutiso, Patrick Oboya, Simon Mburu, Angelo Okumu, Ian Niva, Charles Bruno and Kennedy Ayong.

Mutiso, a Kenya international and former Mathare United, meanwhile took to his official social media page to express his feelings moments after learning of the club’s move to dispense of his services.

“It has been a roller coaster 2014 of ups and downs which the latter tops but it is by God’s grace I made it and worse of all learning of my drop (release from club) through the media,” the player wrote.

The league champions have in the meantime sought to replace the released players by acquiring former Tusker FC custodian Boniface Oluoch, Liberian defender Dikir Clay and Ghanian forward Zachariah Taofiq, with reports that further moves are being lined up for Khalid Aucho, Farouq Ssentongo, Ronnie Owino and Ernest Owino.

The club will be representing the country in the Africa Caf Champions League, and Cecafa Club Championships next year.
