Gor Mahia’s striker Olunga off to South Africa for trials

Micheal Olunga will this week become the third Kenya international to attend trials in the South African top flight football league after landing an invite from Bidvest Wits.

The Gor Mahia player, 21, follows in the footseps of Allan Wanga and Jesse Were who have all tried out with the “clever books” in the past six weeks.

In what is gradually becoming a trend, Kenyan based footballers are opting to spend weeks training in Tanzania, Ethiopia, Zambia and now South Africa, with the hope of securing a move.

Olunga, who is expected to play a starring role in the national team, is also being trailed by clubs in Tanzania, Sudan and Belgium.
