Gor Mahia’s defender ‘Calabar’ urged to consider move to Simba

Former Gor Mahia midfielder Geoffrey ‘Baba’ Kizito has urged ex-teammate David ‘Calabar’ Owino to consider an offer from Tanzanian club Simba SC.

As revealed by Nairobi News recently, Calabar who has six months remaining on his current deal with the Kenyan Premier League champions, has been invited to a trial by Simba SC, with the Msimbasi Street based club ready to offer him a permanent deal if he impresses the technical bench.

MIXED REACTIONS

But this development has evoked mixed reactions from a number of football supporters in Kenya, with a majority reasoning that Kenyan football standards are generally at the same level as Tanzania – if not slightly higher – and thus, it is derisory for a club in the neighboring country to request one of Kenya’s best defenders at the moment to attend a trial.

But Kizito who knows a thing or two about trials having attended a number of them in Asia in the past few months, has instead advised his colleague to look at the wider picture.

MILLIONS

“Go for the trial David, forget about the opinions,” Baba Kizito wrote on his facebook.

Calabar stands to earn almost four times his current Sh 60,000 salary at Gor, alongside a sign on fee in the region of millions of shillings, if he finally puts pen to paper on the move South.
