Gor Mahia in limbo after coach Ze Maria, players boycott training


Gor Mahia coach Jose Marcelo Ferriera has boycotted training and insists on being reimbursed an estimated Sh1 million he has incurred while on club duty, Nairobi News can confirm.

The former Brazilian international, commonly referred to as Ze Maria, together with some first team players boycotted training on Tuesday at the Camp Toyoyo grounds .

The club’s organising secretary Judith Nyangi confirmed as much in an interview with a local sports website.

“The team did not train yesterday (Tuesday) as the coach (Ze Maria) did not show up. He is owed some money and was only paid a partial amount after complaining. The players too were only paid two weeks allowance recently and have decided not to train until they are paid in full,” said Nyangi.

BUSINESS CLASS TICKETS

Nairobi News has since confirmed that Ze Maria is seeking to be refunded upto four business class tickets he used with his wife from Nairobi to Brazil.

The former Inter Milan player could not be reached for comment.

It is understood that fisrt team players are owed upto two weeks arrears in training allowances, alongside the match winning bonuses for the two wins against Kariobangi Sharks and Zoo Kericho.

A club official who spoke to Nairobi News off the record confirmed that the club has other unpaid expenses including water supplies and training ground fees.
