Gor Mahia, Esperance match pushed due to rains

The CAF Champions League match between Gor Mahia and Esperance was postponed to Monday after heavy rains hit Tunis.

Both team had entered the field on Sunday to play when the referee declared the pitch unfit for play.

The game was to kick off at 6pm Kenya time in the Tunisian capital , with Esperance carrying a 3-2 advantage from the first game in Nairobi last weekend.

The return leg has tentatively been scheduled for  6pm Monday, but Gor Mahia officials are trying to have CAF and Esperance officials to agree to a morning kick-off so that they can catch their afternoon flight back to Nairobi.

According to CAF rules, games cannot be played after midnight and before noon.

Gor officials are however making a bid to have CAF to suspend the rule to avoid missing their scheduled flight to Nairobi.

If Gor will be forced to travel back a day later than initially planned, the food and accommodation costs will still be footed by Esperance.

Gor will however pay for the fee of postponing their flights.
