Gor, AFC buckle up for continental ties

Kenya’s representatives to the continental matches, Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards are gearing up for the return leg fixtures of their continental matches set for this weekend.

Gor Mahia will be away to Gabon as they carry their slim 1-0 advantage over US Bitam, while their rivals AFC Leopards will be in Ethiopia trying to protect their 2-0 lead against FC Defence in the CAF Cup.

League Champions Gor Mahia are set to depart on Thursday morning with their flight set for 11.30 am to Gabon.

According to club assistant secretary, Ronald Ngala, a squad of 18 players, five technical bench officials and an official from the Football Kenya Federation will make the trip.

Players Kevin Omondi and Joseph Wanyonyi are still out with injuries.

The game is set for Sunday at 3 pm with the winner of the tie set to meet Tunisian side Esperance in the next round of the CAF Champions League.

GOtv Shield winners AFC Leopards on the other hand will leave the country for Addis on Friday morning ahead of the return leg on Sunday.

Ingwe have been boosted by the return of talismanic striker Allan Wanga who has been named in the travelling squad after recovering from a knee injury that kept him out of the first leg.

Also in the squad is winger Paul Were despite media reports indicating he is headed to South Africa for trials.

The pacy winger was in superb form in the first leg and the Leopards will again rely on his pace to put the game to rest.
