Gor, AFC arrive to pomp and celebration

Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards arrived in Nairobi on Monday evening to a sea of fans who flocked at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport

JKIA was a mix of green, blue and white as fans of the two teams waited for their heroes whose planes’ touched down minutes apart.

Gor Mahia defeated Gabon league champions 4-2 in post-match penalties, with captain Jerim Onyango the hero of the day.

The custodian saved three penalties, two in open play and one in the shootout.

The 2013 KPL champions will seek inspiration from their 1987 Mandela Cup final as they face the team they went past on that occasion, Esperance.

Gor will host Esperance on the first weekend of March, on either Saturday 1 or Sunday 2. They will then travel to Tunisia a week later.
