Golf Course residents install cameras to fight crime

Neighbourhoods in Nairobi have taken security matters in their hands in the face of rising crime.

The latest is Golf Course II estate which has installed closed circuit cameras, complete with display and recording system in the neighbourhood, to enhance the level of security.

According to the estate’s chairman Mr Ben Mbato, the security system will complement security guards and the normal police patrols in the area.

“The motivation of installing the system was to record activities within the estate, the going-in and going-out to make sure that there is enough security for every resident,” he said during an interview.

The system was bought and installed at a cost of Sh200, 000.

“Residents came together and agreed to establish the security,” said Mr Mbato.
