Gin Ideal ditches Grandpa Records as mass exodus continues

Gin Ideal, one of the fast rising artistes in the Kenyan music industry, is the latest musician to walk out on troubled Grandpa Records.

The petite musician, who burst into limelight with the hit Rede two years ago produced by Grandpa Records, has confirmed that she has left the label.

Her departure comes just months after Dufla Diligon – another artiste signed by the label – left.

Speaking to Nairobi News, the singer however fell short of disclosing the exact reason why she left the Kibera-based label owned by former rapper turned producer Refigah.

“I can’t tell you the exact reason as to why I left Grandpa, but what you need to know is that soon I will be making an announcement of the new team I will be working with,” Gin Ideal said.

EXPIRED CONTRACT

But when pressed further, the singer revealed that she left after her contract with the management expired.

Interestingly, Gin Ideal’s reason is similar to those given by other artistes who’ve recently left the label, including Tempo hitmaker Dufla.

Word however has it that the latest developments comes in the wake of a massive fallout between the artistes and the management of the label.

It is now rumoured that with the exit of Gin Ideal, Grandpa has been left with no other signed artiste.

The music stable is credited with release of several club bangers, including Dawa ya Moto, Tempo, Dumbala and Mbilikimo Mkora among others.
