Gangster behind Karen’s crime wave shot dead


Police on Saturday shot dead a notorious criminal suspected to have been behind the recent spate of crime in the upmarket Karen suburb.

Peter Njenga Wanjohi was killed at dawn after officers in the elite unit Flying Squad raided his hideout in Kiserian.

The gangster is said to have attempted to jump over the balcon while shooting back at the officers during the raid.

He was fatally shot and one pistol with five rounds of ammunition recovered.

The man is suspected to have been behind a series of robberies and killings in Karen and Ngong area.

According to Inspector General David Kimaiyo, the man was involved in the shooting of Samburu West MP Lati Lelelit, the robbery of Abuya Abuya, an employee of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), as well as the murder of a Kenya Power Company employee.
