Full list of rebel politicians expelled from ODM


Ten politicians risk being subjected to by-elections after the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) National Governing Council on Monday afternoon voted to expel them for rebelling against the party.

Those shown the door include Governor Salim Mvurya (Kwale), MPs Ababu Namwamba (Budalang’i), and John Waluke (Sirisia), among others.

The party wants the 10 subjected to a by-election for defecting.

Five others are set to appear before the party’s disciplinary committee on Thursday while two have been pardoned.

This came moments after rebellious ODM MPs Richard Onyonka (Kitutu Chache South) and his Bomachoge Chache counterpart Simon Ogari apologised to ODM party leader Raila Odinga, saying Jubilee Party negated its promises to them.

Those expelled:

1. Governor Salim Mvurya- Kwake
2. Joash Maangi- Deputy Governor, Kisii
3. Steven Kariuki- Mathare
4. Isaac Mwaura- Nominated
5. Zainab Chidzuga- Kwale Women Rep
6. Samwel Arama- Nakuru West
7. Ababu Namwamba- Budalang’i
8. Masoud Mwahima- Likoni
9. John Waluke- Sirisia
10. Samwel Nyangwara- MCA, Viwandani, Nairobi.

Those pardoned

1. Ukur Yatani- Governor, Marsabit
2. Cyprian Kubai- Igembe Central

Those to appear before disciplinary committee on Thursday

1. Mpuru Aburi- Tigania East
2. Mustafa Idd- Kilifi South
3. Gideon Mung’aro- Kilifi North
4. Chachu Ganya- North Horr
5. James Rege- Karachuonyo
