Police gunned down four suspected thugs in Thome estate, Kasarani, and recovered an AK 47 loaded with 14 bullets on Tuesday morning.

Police also recovered five handcuffs, two knives and a Toyota NZE suspected to have been stolen.

The four, according to Nairobi County Police Commandant, Benson Kibui were waylaid by the Special Crime Prevention Unit s they planned to conduct a robbery in one of the business centers.

“Residents heading to work saw the four who were in a Toyota NZE. Those who gave information to the police said that the men were armed and looked suspicious,” Mr Kibui said.

When police asked the four to surrender their guns, they resisted and tried shooting at the officers, said Kibui.

“The police gunned them down as there is always no negotiation with a dangerously armed thug who resists arrest,” he added.
