Former radio presenter and rapper Simon Njoroge, popularly known as Shrekeezy, is dead.

Shrekeezy drowned on Saturday in Mbudya Island, off the Dar es Salaam coast in Tanzania.

His body was found on Tuesday after a three-day search, according to a relative who spoke to Nairobi News.

Shrekeezy had posted pictures on Instagram on Saturday, saying that he had been in Tanzania for eight days.

In fact, he had a chilling message on the last picture he posted while at the island: “ The boatride from #WhiteSandsHotel to #MbudyaIsland is the scariest thing I’ve experienced in a long time. But we here… #TanzaniaDay8.”

In Kenya, Shrekeezy had been working with international beer brand Heineken, where he was a digital brand strategist.

He first gained attention for his successful online radio show Shrekeezy Live[4] which was later taken up as a daily radio show on Hero Radio Kenya after gaining over 40,000 fans [5] on social media.

As a marketing executive at Hero Radio, Simon developed huge interest on internet marketing and took part-time classes with Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Early this year, Shrekeezy released a song ‘Down For My City’, a collaboration with internationally recognized African musicians like STL and Kanja from Kenya; Roberto from Zambia; Silvastone for the UK and Nigeria’s Wanda Boy.
