Former city mayor Aladwa has one hand on elusive Makadara seat

Former Nairobi mayor George Aladwa is enjoying a convincing lead in the Makadara parliamentary race.

Aladwa, who trounced a former MP Reuben Ndolo in the ODM party nominations, seems headed to defeating incumbent Benson Kangara.

The former mayor had by Wednesday afternoon garnered  42, 699 votes against Kangara’s 38, 963.

This is 94.27 per cent of the constituency’s results transmitted by Wednesday afternoon.

The number of valid votes in the constituency was placed at 88, 771 votes and rejected votes at 1, 242.

Ndolo was once the area MP (2003-2007) and this is his third failed attempt at making a return to elective politics.

Senator Mike Sonko represented Makadara in parliament in 2007 -2013 before the current MP Bernard Mutura Kangara was elected.
