Former ICC staff kidnapped in Nairobi

A former defence investigator for the Tribunal for Rwanda who also worked for the International Criminal Court (ICC) is missing.

Jean Chrysostome Ntirugiribambe is reported to have been kidnapped by four people on Tuesday June 28 outside the Tana’s Shopping Complex along Kamiti Road in Nairobi.

A family member told Nairobi News that Mr Ntirugiribambe had just finished buying vegetables at a grocery when he was approached by three men who forced him into a car.

“Witnesses told us that as the men were forcing him into the car, he tried to resist and one of the men pulled a pistol and he obliged,” the family member said.

She said the men left behind the polythene that contained the vegetables.

Efforts to reach Mr Ntirugiribambe thereafter, according to the family member, have been futile as his phone has since been switched off.

According to her, Mr Ntirugiribambe was forced into a black station wagon which has not been traced since.

His disappearance was reported at the Kasarani Police Station.
