Akumu secured the switch from Sudanese club Al Khartoum, while Were was lured from Kenyan Premier League giants Tusker FC.

The duo is expected in Zambia’s second city of Ndola on Saturday afternoon, and will undergo medical examinations before completing the moves in time for start of the pre-season on Monday.

EXCITED

“I am excited with this opportunity and looking forward to it. I will give my best, try score many goals to make the fans happy and ensure we achieve our predetermined targets,” Were told Nairobi News.

Were and Akumu are expected to feature prominently for Zesco who will be seeking to retain the league title for a third season running and get to at least the group stage of the Caf Africa Champions League.

The two players will link up with two other Kenyan stars David Owino and Jacob Keli who turn out for Zesco and Nkana FC respectively.
