Reunion night as F2 celebrates 30 years

For disco fans, Friday was a night to remember as long-time revellers of Florida 2000 were given a special treat to mark the club’s 30th anniversary.

The event also served as a reunion between the long serving DJs of the 80s and 90s; including Steve Aziz, Tito, Kareez, Sweet Dennis, Magic Myke. Hussein Abdalla Jnr, Mdosi, Suleyman, Double J, Sweet Njoroge and Alabama.

Steve Aziz, who is now the manager of all Florida clubs said he was excited to be part of the event that was aimed at celebrating the club and appreciating its patrons.

Most respected

“I started out playing in a band for the club then moved to being a DJ and now I manage the place. We have groomed some of the most respected DJs and musicians, including Kalamashaka, Hardstone, K-South Flava, Poxi Presha, Mighty King Kong, Master Gee and Kanda King,” he said with a smile.

The room was filled with nostalgia as friends and DJs who had not seen each other in years hugged and talked about the old times over a glass of their favourite drink.

The night culminated in the DJs revisiting the popular oldies of the 80s and 90s before a midnight special cabaret show that featured both new and long serving dancers.

“This is an epic moment because we have never been together in the same room for a long time, and we are all proud to be part of this history in the making,” said Njoroge who served between 1992 and 1995.

The F1 club, which was also popularly known as Madhouse, is scheduled for reopening at a new venue later this year.
