First Lady gets honorary degree from Kenyatta University
First lady Margaret Kenyatta was on Friday awarded an honorary degree by Kenyatta University. Mrs Kenyatta was awarded a Doctor of Humane Letters during the institution’s 37th graduation ceremony held at the main campus in Nairobi along Thika Superhighway.
The degree of Doctor of Humane Letters is usually awarded to those who have distinguished themselves in areas other than science, government, literature or religion.
Mrs Kenyatta has been running a campaign to offer medical services to mothers aimed at reducing maternal deaths dubbed the ‘Beyond Zero Campaign’.
This year, the campaign has managed to donate 16 mobile clinics to different counties across the country.
The First Lady was recently named the UN Person of the Year for her exceptional work in reducing maternal deaths through her campaign.
