Fiji stops Kenya

Kenya lost to Fiji 34-0 in the Plate final of the Gold Coast Sevens in Australia, leaving them sixth on the overall log.

Just like the pool game against New Zealand and the Main Cup quarter final against Australia, the Kenyans had several handling mistakes and missed tackles which Fiji capitalised on.

Head Coach Felix Ochieng will however be pleased with the team’s performance, having had to restructure following the departure of Mike Friday after the World Cup.

Willy Ambaka’s absence cannot be overlooked, as his shoes were too big to fill on short notice.

Collins Injera was forced to play at centre where he landed three tries.

Billy Odhiambo proved he is worth the call up after also scoring three tries.

With 12 points in the bag, Ochieng now has to rectify the mistakes in Australia before the next leg.

Former Head Coach Friday on his twitter account said the team appears to have lost confidence after the 31-0 drubbing by New Zealand, a thing that was evident in the Cup quarter final.
