July 17: 389 more test positive for Covid-19


Some 389 more people have tested positive for Covid-19 from 3,545 samples tested in the past 24 hours.

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe on Friday announced that the new cases have pushed up the total infections in the country to 12,062.

Kagwe was speaking in Murang’a County where he launched the Kiria-ini mission hospital, where he said the total number of tests carried have gone up to 233,641.

389 of the new virus patients are Kenyan nationals while the remaining four are foreigners and were composed of 260 males and 129 females.

The youngest patient is a five month-old infant while the oldest is 95 years old.

Five more patients have, however, lost their lives to the disease, taking the number of Covid-19 fatalities in the country to 222.

In terms of counties, Nairobi leads in new infections with 6,761 cases followed by Mombasa 1,794 and Kiambu with 666.
