Java to open five new coffee houses in city
In a bid to tap into the evolving spending habits of the city middleclass, Nairobi Java House plans to open five new outlets this year.
In the city centre alone, the firm is set to open two outlets including one at Clyde House on Kimathi Street and another at St Ellis House on City Hall Way.
The other three will be in Westlands at Orbit House, at Doonholm’s Greenspan Mall and another one in Hurligham.
Nairobi Java House Business Development Director Leonard Mudachi said the expansion was also motivated by a need to offer the best service in the market.
He noted that even though contemporary customers were very discerning about what they want, there was a shortage of consistent casual family dining restaurants.
Important group
“Since now we have the ability to grow, we decided to cater for the needs and demands of this important group of clients,” said Mr Mudachi.
He, however, did not give details of opening dates only divulging “the expansion plans extend to the end of 2014.”
The five new city outlets will be opened along three other branches in Naivasha, Kisumu and Kampala in Uganda.
Java currently has 19 operational branches in the city with the one at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport being the busiest as it runs 24 hours. The Westgate Mall branch was closed last year after the terrorist attack.
Mr Mudachi said the coffee house would ride on its advantage of being a well-known brand and convenient locations to grow its client base.
