Oliech’s mother to return after cancer treatment in France


Mama Mary Auma Oliech is set to return to Kenya on Saturday after two years of treatment in France.

Auma, mother to Kenyan forward Dennis Oliech, had been undergoing specialised treatment for cancer at Urgenes hospital in France since 2013.

A source in the family disclosed that the approximate cost of her treatment was a whopping Sh7 million.

“I am happy to announce mum’s return. We have missed her so much and am happier to inform Kenyans that she is in a much better state compared to when she left,” Auma’s other son Ken, a former Gor Mahia player, told Nairobi News.

Ken is gunning for the chairmanship post in the upcoming Football Kenya Federation elections set for October.

Besides, Dennis and Ken, Auma is also mother to Kevin Oliech, a professional footballer who featured at Tusker and Mathare United, and the late Steven Okumu also, a former Kenya International footballer regarded by many pundits as the most talented player in the family.

Auma is a renowned fishmonger in Nairobi, with interests in several restaurants in Nairobi and Kisumu.
