Exclusive: Emmanuel Jal shrugs off claims of eating humans

Rumors doing rounds on the internet claim that former child soldier and musician from South Sudan, Emmanuel Jal, threatened to eat an air hostess late last week.

Apparently, the Canada-based musician, who was flying WestJet Air, a local airline, asked one of the hostesses for some food. The hostess told him they had run out of sandwiches.

Jal went ahead to tell her that he has a license to ‘eat’ humans, something that got the hostess very terrified.

More reports also say that the airline has banned him from their flights for life.

Speaking exclusively to Nairobi News Wednesday afternoon, Jal laughed it off and made it clear that he was only joking.

“I have not spoken to any media house about this because information is being distorted left, right and centre,” said Jal on phone from Canada.

“However, let me make it clear. I was very hungry and they had run out of food, so I started joking around saying I will eat one of the crew members. They all started joking about it but only one crew member was scared. But I made sure they know I was just joking.”

He refuted claims that he has been banned by the airline.

“I have no idea about any ban and neither does the airline. This is just media propaganda.”
