EXCLUSIVE: Homesick Wanyama splashes Sh6m to fly family to England

Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama has forked out millions of shillings on an exclusive treat for his immediate family.

Nairobi News has reliably learnt that the Southampton midfielder has invited his loved ones, including parents – Noah and Mildred – and six siblings to England for a month long holiday.

While there, the visitors are expected to watch several English Premier League games starting with this weekend’s highly billed clash between Southampton and Louis Van Gaal’s Manchester United.

The visitors are also primed to watch Wanyama tussle it out in midfield against Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham in the coming weeks.

Wanyama is expected to take his family members on a shopping trip in London and a visit to a couple of historical sites in England.

The family left for England in two batches on Sunday and Monday evening, and is expected to be in Europe for the next month.

A trip to visit Wanyama’s elder sibling McDonald Mariga in Italy also on the cards.

“It is a pleasant surprise to visit Victor in England. He has done us proud after a challenging start to his career. We are also heading there to reflect on the past and support him as it is looking increasingly certain he might be embracing a new challenge in his career soon,” a close family member, who asked not to be named, told Nairobi News without elaborating.

The air tickets for the trip are estimated to have cost Wanyama almost half of his Sh12 million weekly salary.
