Ex-Kenyan player Fred Ambani and family escape grisly road accident


Former Kenya international Fred Ambani and his family escaped death narrowly after they were involved in a grisly road accident on Christmas eve.

According to Fred’s younger brother Boniface, who is also an ex-international, the family which was travelling to Western Kenya for holidays suffered the tragic incident when a bus rammed into the rear side of the car.

The incident happened on Saturday night at Free Area in Nakuru. The vehicle, a Landcruiser 4WD, was extensively damaged.

Two of the children in the car were hospitalised for treatment while the rest suffered minor injuries and bruises.

During his heyday, Fred, now a sports businessman in Nairobi, enjoyed a successful with AFC Leopards, Oserian Fastac and the Kenyan national team Harambee Stars.

Boniface also played for the two clubs alongside his brother and also featured for Tanzanian giants Yanga where remains a popular figure among the fans. Currently a businessman, Boniface is also AFC Leopards SC youth team coach.
