Entertainment events that excited Kenyans in 2021


The love for parting and hanging out in Nairobi remains at an all-time high despite the challenges associated with the Covid-19 restrictions.

During the festive season, for example, Kenyans thronged several entertainment joints to have fun, and in style. This as organizers took advantage of the demand, to plan a number of concerts even as the youthful audience asked for more.

Here are some of the events that have since stood out.

Koroga Festival

This event was among the most attended. It brought together fans with a taste of music from various local and African artists in an afternoon outdoor setting full of, art, food, and smooth vibes. Performances from renowned artists such as Ali Kiba, Diamond Platnumz, Alpha Blondy, Safi Keita, Awillo Logomba, Yemi Alade, Mercy Masika, Sauti Sol, Ethic, Samidoh among others, lit up the themed event.

Safaricom Jazz Festival

It is an event specifically for lovers of Jazz Music and fans who love the smooth beats from the saxophone, drum set, flutes, and violins, commonly referred to as music that sets one in peaceful good vibes.

A creation of former Safaricom Chief Executive Bob Collymore, the event brought to music fans a fresh-themed concert with jazz Maestros like Salif Keita and Fatoumata Diawara from Mali, Jimmy Dludlu, Kunle Ayo from Nigeria, and New-York-based Cameroonian artist Richard Bona in attendance.

Local Jazz bands including Shamsi Music, Nairobi Horns Project, Mwai, and the Truth, and GogoSimo Band were also not left out.

Reggae Concerts

Kenya has in the recent past gained traction as the official Reggae Capital for East Africa with artists streaming in from all over the fans for performance after performance.

These include Wailers, Morgan Heritage, Christopher Martin, Romain Virgo, Jah Cure, Etana, Luciano among many more who’ve performed at least twice in the past three years.

Other events include Blankets and Wine, Choma na Ngoma, Oktobafest, Reggae in the Sun, African Nouveau, Thrift Social, Hype Fest, Jameson Connects Kenya, Terminal Music Weekend.
