End tribalism, President Magufuli tells Kenyans as Uhuru listens -VIDEO

Tanzania President John Pombe Magufuli has urged Kenyans to shun tribalism. The 57 year old Head of State made the call during his two-day working visit in Kenya.

“Let me tell you the truth because anyone who speaks the truth is a darling of God, every other thing in Kenya is excellent, the only problem is tribalism,” President Magufuli said during a State briefing attended by among others his host President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“I know my words will make some of you uncomfortable but I have to tell you here and now. Please end tribalism. If you can manage that, Kenya is the best country,” President Magufuli said amid applause from his audience.

TRIBES

The Tanzanian leader also stressed on the call for unity, while drawing parallels between the 42 tribes in Kenya and the 122 in Tanzania.

“Despite all these tribes in Tanzania, we are all united by one tribe, that of Kiswahili and being Tanzanians,” he said.

Magufuli’s sentiments come just months to the country’s next general elections.

Kenyans are notorious of not only consistently voting along tribal lines, but also supporting their own tribesmen in decision making and policies.
