Embassava driver blamed for Jogoo road accident

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) says the fatal accident in Nairobi on Thursday night was caused by the carelessness of Embassava bus.

The 6:30pm accident involved Embassava and Forward Traveller buses at the junction of Jogoo and Rabai roads in Eastlands.

“The Public Service Vehicle belonging to Embassava Sacco was heading towards the Donholm roundabout and failed to obey the traffic lights,” read a statement from NTSA director Francis Meja.

“In an attempt to avoid hitting a vehicle which was from Rabai road, the driver swerved to his right side and lost control.

HEAD-ON COLLISION

It is at this point that the Embassava Sacco PSV lost control and collided head-on with the Forward Sacco PSV.”

The driver of the Forward Sacco PSV died on the spot while seven passengers were seriously injured, 14 of them slightly.

Mr Meja added that the fatal road crash was, as a result, occasioned by the driver of the Embassava Sacco Public Service vehicle following dangerous and careless driving that resulted in the collision. The crash was preventable, he added.

“The driver of the Embassava Sacco will be arraigned in court and be charged with the appropriate sections of the law. NTSA will not hesitate to suspend the operating license of the culpable PSV Sacco.
