Policeman succumbs to Covid-19 at KNH


A police officer has died at Kenyatta National Hospital where he was admitted after he tested positive for Covid-19.

The officer, who was attached to Karuri Police Station in Kiambaa Sub County, passed on while receiving treatment at the referral hospital.

“The deceased officer had initially been taken to Radiant Hospital Pangani on Sunday July 5 and on July 8 it was confirmed that he was Covid-19 positive,” an OB statement filed at the police station reads.

Friends and relatives posted their messages of condolences on the officer’s Facebook page as they mourned their fallen colleague.

This comes just a day after another police officer manning a bank in Meru collapsed and died.

CAUSED PANIC

The death of the officer who was guarding Equity Bank , Makutano Branch in Meru caused panic in the town.

Mr Robinson Mboloi, the North Imenti police boss said that the body of the officer was moved to Meru Teaching and Referral Hospital.

Kenya has so far recorded over 14,000 positive cases with 250 deaths.
