MP’s sister found dead in Ruiru

By Simon Ciuru October 4th, 2019 1 min read

Jane Murugi, sister of Githunguri MP Gabriel Kago, was on Friday found dead at her home in Membley, Ruiru, Kiambu County.

Mr Kago told the Nation on phone that they were informed about his sister’s death by her house help.

According to the house help, there was a commotion between Murugi and her husband the previous night. And when she went upstairs to find out what was happening, she was instructed by Murugi’s husband to go back to sleep.

BLOOD STAINS

She further claims to have seen the husband washing his blood-stained hands.

Mr Kago added that when they went to his sister’s home, they found clothes stained with blood in the bedroom.
“From the look of things and what we found in the bedroom, we suspect that our sister was murdered, and not suicide as police say. There is more than meets the eye,” he said.

The legislator further said when they arrived, the husband was still in the house and had not reported the incident to the police.

“There are so many speculations around my sister’s death. About 80 per cent of what we have seen and observed can be related to murder,” Mr Kago said.

AUTOPSY

He also claimed that his brother-in-law refused to provide CCTV footage to police and family members for review.

The couple have been married for a decade and have three children. Family members allege that the union had been rocked by problems.

A post-mortem is being conducted at Kenyatta University Funeral Home.
