The Kenya Correspondents Association (KCA) has organised psychological support to all the journalists who covered the Likoni ferry tragedy in Mombasa.

KCA on their Facebook page stated they would offer the psychological session on Wednesday September 16, 2019 in Mombasa.

“As part of our response and support, KCA and IREX have organized a debriefing session to offer psychological support to the journalists who covered the tragedy tomorrow(Wednesday) in Mombasa,” they posted.

For the 13 days the multi-agency were carrying out their recovery operation, different journalists from different media house from across the country closely followed the operation while updating their followers.

“It was a grueling period of two weeks at the scene and covering the incident taxed the journalists both physically and emotionally,” added KCA.

KCA also lauded the coast region’s journalists for their work after Mariam Kighenda and her 4-year-old daughter Amanda Matheu plunged into the Indian ocean aboard their vehicle.

The bodies of the two were recovered after 13 days under water and even though the journalists were not allowed to see the two, the journalists got to interact with their families and friends.

KCA provides platform for media correspondents to interact and enhance their profile in the media industry.
