Shock as Kemsa gives city clinics expired drugs

Expired drugs are being sold at public clinics, it has been revealed.

The scandal continues because corruption is rife at the Kenya Medical Supplies Agency, which holds the supply monopoly, senators said.

The agency has been dumping drugs which were either expired or just about to reach their sell-by date at the 80 clinics run by the County Government in Nairobi, according to Dr Robert Ayisi, the county’s health chief.

His disclosures plus the shocking claims by senators are sure to shock residents who cannot afford treatment at private hospitals and who rely entirely on public clinics.
