Lorry driver fined 12k for obstructing DP Ruto’s motorcade

A lorry driver who obstructed Deputy President William Ruto’s convoy on Sunday during his visit to Machakos has been fined Sh12,000 by a court in Machakos.

Shadrack Nzomo Musyoki was arraigned on Wednesday in court and charged with obstruction and failing to obey verbal instructions contrary to Section 53(1) as read with Section 53(4) of the Traffic Act.

Mr Musyoka was accused of obstructing the deputy president’s motorcade by stopping in the middle of the road.

The said incident happened on September 10, 2017 at around 11am at Vota junction area along the Mombasa-Nairobi road in Machakos County.

He was driving an Isuzu lorry registration number KCH 544B.

The suspect pleaded guilty to the charges before senior magistrate Yusuf Shikanda who ordered him pay the fine.
