Drama as two teenage girls fight over boda boda rider

By KNA April 20th, 2015 1 min read

Residents in Mkoroshoni area in the outskirts of Kilifi town were treated to drama on Sunday evening when two girls aged 15 and 16 engaged in a catfight over a boda boda rider.

The two minors, who both claimed to be lovers of a 27 year old boda boda operator, exchanged blows outside a lodging where the boda boda rider was alleged to have taken the 15 year-old-girl, a class five pupil, before the other stormed in and caused a scene.

The boda boda man fled immediately leaving the girls to square it out.

The teenagers hurled insults, openly accusing each other of “husband-snatching”.

PASTOR INTERVENES

It took the intervention of a local pastor who was passing by and other boda boda operators to calm the two down.

Karisa Maktubu, also a boda boda operator, said his colleague has been co-habiting with the 16 year old girl who dropped out of school last year.

“I have always warned my friend against playing around with young girls. The one he lives with dropped out of school while the one he was with at the lodging is a class five pupil,” he said.

Pastor Zablon Tsuma of Lion of Judah ministries, a local church in the area, who assisted in separating the girls expressed alarm over how young girls could expose their immorality in public places.

He blamed parents for poor parenting and asked the government to crack down on bars and lodges which allowed minors into their premises.

“Parents no longer have time for their children. They have left the children on their own and the results are what we are seeing, little girls fighting over men,” he said.
