DPP asked to probe death threats to Moha Jicho Pevu

Human rights activists on Thursday asked Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko to order investigations into alleged death threats made to investigative journalist Mohammed Ali.

They claimed the KTN journalist was being linked to a documentary aired on Monday December 8, by Al Jazeera exposing an alleged government hit squad that kills suspected terrorists.

The damning programme expose was aired by the international television network Monday.

It was also  uploaded on the Internet and it shows hidden images of security officers confessing to executing terrorism suspects.

The officers, whose identities are protected for security reasons, say they were trained by foreign security agencies, among them the British MI5 and Mossad of Israel.

An officer says they were responsible for many executions, including that of Sheikh Abubakar Shariff Makaburi in April.

The National Police Service (NPS) has denied claims that it runs a secret programme for executing terrorism suspects.
