I don’t do drugs, I’m a Christian, says Othaya MP Mary Wambui

Othaya MP Mary Wambui has refuted claims that she is a drug trafficker saying: I’m not a drug baron and I know nothing about such matters.

Ms Wambui, who was mentioned in a report tabled in the August House by then Internal security minister Prof George Saitoti, said she has nothing to talk about the matter.

She added that she is a born-again Christian who believes in God.

“Kazi yangu nikufanya maendeleo, muniulize ile pesa napataia watu ya CDF, mambo ingine sina. Mimi ni mtu wa Mungu na Mungu wangu ako mbele (My work is to steer development so ask me about CDF funds otherwise I don’t know much. I’m a Christian and my God knows that),” she said.

Ms Wambui was responding to questions by journalists on Tuesday at Kagicha trading centre in Othaya where she had made a stop-over to urged people to register as voter in big numbers.

The MP, who is seeking re-election, was moving round the constituency disbursing CDF cheques worth Sh22.6million to various projects.

Ms Wambui said she has “let God” deal with her accusers adding that the move was political and meant to tarnish her name in the run up to the general election.

“I won’t answer more questions regarding this topic! Please ask other questions,” she went on.
