Tanzanian bongo artistes Diamond Platnumz and Rayvanny, who have been banned by their government from performing, are now pleading for forgiveness.

The repentant duo on Friday shared a video on their social media platforms seeking pardon from Tanzania Music regulatory board (Baraza la Sanaa la Taifa – Basata).

In the short clip, the two artistes expressed regret for their decision to defy several orders issued by the board regarding their explicit nature of some of their songs.

Diamond, is currently in Kenya to promote ahead of his Wasafi Festival performance on New Year’s eve.

The artiste’s new stance is a remarkable climb down from his initial defiance.

The board imposed the ban Diamond and his Wasafi crew member over the explicit content of the hit Mwanza.

DEFIED ORDERS

Last month Basata banned the song in Tanzania and also directed the musicians to pull it down from various online platforms.

It also advised the singers not to perform the song at any gathering in Tanzania but defied Diamond defied the orders and performed it during his recent show in Thika town.

The duo also refused to pull it down from YouTube as ordered.

This compelled Basata to ban the two from performing on any shows or organizing any concert in and outside Tanzania, citing indiscipline and disrespect to the body.

Meanwhile, Basata is yet to respond to the artistes’ apology and admission of guilt.
