Diamond fans criticise new video

The new video of East Africa’s finest Diamond Platinumz, Ntampata Wapi has got some of his Tanzanian fans hating stating that it is too western.

Comments on the YouTube video that was uploaded on the singer’s official channel on Thursday display some visibly angry fans who are of the view that the involvement of too many white girls in the video westernized it.

One of those who commented said:

“Na anachokosea pia ni kuweka hao wazungu anaona dili. Keli kuzaliwa tandale bwana. Ni shida fukara wa fikra. Poor diamond.. Graph yazidi kushuka. My number one hutakaa fikia tena. Nani anabisha?”

But the comment was countered by remarks from other fans who insisted that inclusion of white girls in the video would make it hit internationally.

Some argued that given that the song is in Kiswahili is a clear indication that the hit singer is still proud to be Tanzanian and is reaching the international audience through the video.

BIG YEAR FOR BONGO ARTISTE

The new song Ntampata Wapi gives the story of a love that was once shared happily by a couple has now turned sour.

In the video, the Bongo heartthrob plays the piano at a young lady’s birthday and the birthday girl keeps stealing glances at him throughout the occasion.

Romantic scenes of the two love birds trying their hands at pottery and having a pillow fight are also in the video.

The singer, who turned 25 last month, has lately been using white models in his videos with the other hit Mdogo Mdogo having the main model as white.

His song Bam Bam dedicated to his West African fans was also not well received by his Tanzanian fans who said he was forgetting his roots.

This year has been a big one for the artiste who has received a lot of airplay and released quality videos for his songs.

He however missed out in the MTV Europe Music Awards whose Best African Act Award was won by Kenya’s Sauti Sol.
