Final rest for comedian Mzee Ojwang at Lang’ata cemetery

Legendary comedian Benson Wanjau will be laid to rest Wednesday at the Langata Cemetery.

Mr Wanjau, popularly known as Mzee Ojwang’ Hatari for his role in the Vitimbi television series, will be buried after a public body viewing session at the Kenya National Theatre.

The funeral service will be held at Nyayo Stadium.

His body has been lying at the Umash Funeral Home after being transferred from the Kenyatta hospital mortuary on July 12.

Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko had pledged to offer hearses from his Sonko Rescue Team to transfer the body to Umash and for the funeral.

The comedian succumbed to pneumonia at the Kenyatta national hospital, months after he had undergone a successful eye surgery.

Senator Sonko was instrumental in ensuring the eye surgery was a reality after he was approached by Mzee Ojwang’s colleagues for help.

The senator has been in touch with the family and colleagues who formed a funeral committee chaired by Walter Mong’are to ensure a decent send off for the actor.
