Court reverses bond for teacher charged with defiling student

By VINCENT AGOYA November 2nd, 2015 1 min read

The High Court has stopped the release of a Biology teacher accused of defiling a Form One student at Highridge girls secondary school.

Justice Ngenye Macharia in Nairobi overruled the Chief Magistrate court’s decision to release Hillary Okeyo on bond because he could interfere with prosecution witnesses.

The Judge said the suspect may interfere with witnesses who are students and whom she described as “agile.”

Mr Hilary Okeyo had been released on a Sh500,000 cash bail after pleading “not guilty” of charges of defilement and indecent act with a child.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecution challenged his release by lodging an appeal at the high Court.
