Cord sets up parallel salary kitty for striking teachers – VIDEO
The opposition on Wednesday launched a parallel kitty to be used to pay striking teachers even as the government insists it has no funds to implement a 50 to 60 per cent increment.
Cord Principal Raila Odinga announced that contributions to the kitty will be made via mobile money transfer services to paybill number 672672.
“We have opened an M-Pesa pay bill account called’ Solidarity Account’ whose pay bill number is 672672 to support teachers,” Mr Odinga told a rally at Uhuru park
Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka announced that they had each deposited Sh100,000 to the kitty.
“I have personally deposited Sh 100,000 into the account. Kalonzo Musyoka has also deposited KSh 100,000 into the account,” said Mr Odinga.
