Collins Injera’s record breaking feat leads race for rugby’s greatest moments
Kenya Sevens Rugby maestro Collin Injera is leading the battle for rugby’s top 10 greatest moments as chosen by fans.
The competition, which is run by World Rugby, is currently open for voting at http://www.worldrugby.org/greatestmoment.
Injera has been nominated for breaking the all-time try scoring record at the London Sevens in 2016 eclipsing Santiago Gomez Cora’s record of 230 tries. He currently has 235 tries.
The online contest features rugby moments from the seventies to this year, meaning the winner will have given rugby fans the greatest moment of all time.
On Tuesday, Kenyans rallied behind the winger under the hashtags #VoteForCollinsInjera and #TheGreatestMoment and by press time, Injera had commanded an impressive lead with 8,088 votes.
The second challenger was Japan beating South Africa in the biggest of upset of rugby history, during the 2015 Rugby World Cup with 2,083 votes.
Injera thanked his fans on social media.
