City’s police bosses moved in reshuffle


Top police officers in Nairobi have been moved in the latest shake-up announced on  Thursday by Deputy Inspector General of police Grace Kaindi.

Central Police OCPD Patrick Oduma  has been moved to Matuga, Kwale, in the same capacity. He will be replaced by Fredrick Muthama Lai who was the OCPD Kakamega Central.

Mr Muthama will be deputized by Martin Asin from Personnel Directorate, Vigilance House.

Julius Musyoka Kyumbule has been promoted from deputy OCPD Central to OCPD Marakwet East.

Dagoretti OCPD Gwiyo Juda Mathews has also been moved,  swapping places with Mathira East OCPD Rashid Hulbale Mohammed.

The security of Embakasi Division will now be under the Apollo Wanyonyi who has been moved from OCPD Kirinyaga South.

Christopher Akello Odhiambo, who was in charge of Embakasi will move to Police Headquarters.

Lang’ata OCPD Titus Kyengo Yoma has been transferred to OCPD Kirinyaga South and will be replaced by Elijah Mwangi Maina OCPD Marakwet East.

Buruburu Division was also affected by the transfers. Deputy OCPD Benjamin Kioko Nyamai has been promoted to OCPD Loima. His position has been taken by Nichodemus Ochola.

The posting and deployment of the police officers was agreed upon during a board meeting held on Tuesday, 18, March. They take effect immediately.

Nationally, Joel Kitili Mboya has been appointed the new Commandant of the General Service Unit.

Senior Deputy Commissioner of Police William Saiya Atswenje has been moved from Commandant GSU to be the Director Kenya National Focal Point on Small Arms and Light Weapons

The General Traffic Commandant Samuel Kimaru has also been moved to the Police Headquarters awaiting deployment. He has been replaced by the Charlton Murithi Muriuki.
