City man lynched in Dandora after allegedly strangling wife

A man was lynched by an angry crowd on Tuesday night for allegedly strangling his wife.

The residents in Dandora Phase 5 killed the man after his wife, Mary Wairimu Wanjiru, was found dead in their house with her head wrapped in bed sheets .

A friend of the deceased, Ann Wairimu, went to check on her after she failed to turn up for work and her phone was off. She found the house locked from outside, but a neighbour with a spare keymanaged to open the door.

They found the body lying on the seat with marks on her neck.

Neighbours immediately launched a manhunt for the husband, known as Sammy aka Woria, who had told them that his wife had travelled upcountry.

At around 8pm, the irate members of the public caught up with the husband and lynched him.

Elsewhere in Kibera, the body of a 21 year-old male was found dumped in a trench by Administration Police officer on Tuesday evening.

The deceased was identified as Samuel Wangari. According to police, the half naked body had deep cuts on the head.

The deceased was staying at Silanga, Kibera slums, but his body was found in Soweto Slums.
