City house help returns home with missing toddler after two-day search

A Nairobi house help who went missing with her employer’s toddler returned home on Monday evening, two days after their disappearance.

Twenty eight year-old Dorice Angila had left with Baby Noella Violet Mboya on Sunday morning in Utawala.

The two returned on Monday at 7pm.

“The girl (house help) came back with her (Noella) at 7pm and said she was in Kibera.

“She told us that she had been called on Sunday morning and informed that one of her relatives was sick and admitted in hospital and so went to check on the relative,” Noella’s father, Tom Mboya told Nairobi News.

When asked why she had not informed her employer, the house help claimed she had left her phone in the house.

“I suspect that she was trying to run away with the baby because her phone was on and was tracked around Kibera area so we have brought her to the police station where we are recording statements,” Tom said.

Dorice, who hails from Emuhaya in Vihiga county, had worked for the family for two months.
