City Hall spreads Christmas cheer to needy children and new mothers

By COLLINS OMULO December 24th, 2018 2 min read

City Hall has partnered with a number of organisations to deliver Christmas cheer to needy children in different children homes in the county.

The county government has joined forces with Kenya Charity Sweepstake, the Hilton Hotel, Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company, Nairobi Bottlers, National Bank of Kenya and Agriculture Society of Kenya among others in the initiative.

The organisations have pledged to donate funds and goodies to Governor Mike Sonko’s Christmas kitty in order to help the governor in delivering his promise of helping the needy children this festive season.

LESS PRIVILEGED

Governor Sonko, in a statement, called upon Nairobi residents to live together as families and enjoy the festive season peacefully and also extend their hands to the less privileged in the society.

“We want every person in Nairobi, even the less privileged people in the society to enjoy this festive season. I have been helping people throughout my life and I will continue doing this every year in Nairobi. I do not want this to be a one-off thing but it must be sustained for many years to come even after leaving Nairobi government,” said Mr Sonko.

CHRISTMAS GIFTS

At the same time, the City Hall boss on Sunday launched the distribution of gifts to new mothers in health facilities in Nairobi county.

“Let us make this festive period to be a time to reflect on other people and do something for the benefit of others,” Sonko tweeted.

The governor uploaded on his Twitter handle photos taken while he was inspecting a container full of foodstuffs that will be distributed to the new mothers.

He also shared photos of other goodies, including toiletries and other essentials, for the new mothers.
