By KNA May 27th, 2015 1 min read

Two Chinese nationals were on Wednesday fined Sh 500,000 each or serve two years imprisonment by a Nairobi court for charges of forging Visas.

Li Cheng and Zoo Danfeng were arrested at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on May 23 this year while in possession of forged Canadian visas.

The two who appeared before Chief Magistrate, Daniel Ogembo, pleaded not guilty to the charges through a translator provided by the court as they were unable to converse in English.

THE RULING

During the hearing, the accused persons told the court that their visas had been processed by a friend they had come to visit in the country and did not have any knowledge that the visas were forged.

The duo told the court that they jetted into the country from Hong Kong and were staying at a hotel in Nairobi.

Chief Magistrate Ogembo gave the two 14 days to appeal the ruling.
