From ‘Chilobae’ to ‘Chilobye’, why IEBC boss is Kenya’s most ‘unwanted’ man

The wrath of Kenyans online did not wane even with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), CEO Ezra Chiloba appearing on the Jeff Koinange Live show on Wednesday night.

During his appearance on the show, the embattled CEO defended himself while also maintaining that he is not resigning from his position at the commission despite public demands set by the opposition National Super Alliance (Nasa).

The embattled CEO was once a favorite of many gaining popularity during his numerous press briefings immediately after and in the days following the August 8 general election.

This led to him being christened “Chilobae” by smitten women who were not shy to post their admiration to him on social media.

CALLS FOR RESIGNATION

However, the tables seems to have been turned on Mr Chiloba, since September 1 when the Supreme Court nullified the presidential elections due to irregularities in the transmission process.

With accusing fingers pointed at the IEBC, the CEO of the commission has been put on the spotlight with the opposition asking for his resignation before the repeat presidential elections set for October 26, 2017 are held.

The man who used to be affectionately called “Chilobae” has now become  “Chilobye”.

Here are some of the reactions from Kenyans on Twitter.
