The Smirnoff Battle of the Beats competition will come to an end on Saturday when Kenya’s top DJ will be picked from among three finalists.

The three finalist who will go neck to neck for the ultimate prize of a year contract with local radio station, a full DJ Kit and a contract for EABL gigs are Twin DJ, DJ Zack The Maestro and DJ Roudge.

The competition has brought back old memories of the KBL-sponsored Pilsner Mfalme which catapulted the renowned DJ Mfalme to overnight fame.

ASPIRING DJS

The ongoing Smirnoff Battle of the Beats competition began six weeks ago with 20 aspiring DJs scouted from across the country.

The 20 contestants were put in an academy under the watchful eye of Principal DJ Stylez assisted by a pool of selected experienced Deejays, including DJ Mfalme.

PANEL OF JUDGES

Within the first week, seven contestants were eliminated. From the remaining 13, the judges eliminated another nine in subsequent weeks.

Monday this week, the judging panel comprising DJ Xclusive, DJ Hypnotiq, DJ Mellow and DJ Pierra Makena, picked the three finalists.

The coronation ceremony will be held at Uhuru Gardens at a concert dubbed ‘Ultimate Finale’ where Smirnoff brand ambassadors rappers Fena Gitu and Octoppizo will entertain the crowd.
